THE GIVING SEASON

HOW TO GET THE MOST FROM THE #WVGIVINGSEASON MARKETING EFFORTS

Between the breathless rush of harvest and the calm of Cellar Season, we welcome the festive energy of the holidays—and with them a chance to step back, appreciate the beauty and camaraderie around us, and give back to the communities we call home. The Giving Season combines Wine Country Thanksgiving, Willamette Cares Food Share, and the holidays.

There is no cost for members to participate in The Giving Season marketing promotion. Simply submit your events and special offers and they will automatically be included in our promotions via the website, email marketing, and social media.

There are FIVE ways to participate in this campaign. The more content you post, the more visitors you will have to your WVWA listing and your website. You can track your traffic on WV Portal under My Benefits.

Please contact Director of Memberships & Partnerships, Julie Dalrymple, with any questions.

  • Submit your events through the WV Member Portal.

Select Collateral > Calendar of Events, and select all applicable categories, including “Giving Season,” and “Holiday.”

Submission Tip: Photos with no text overlaid appear best on our events calendar and have a better chance of being featured on the website home page.

  • Submit your special offers through the WV Member Portal.

Select Collateral > Special Offers, and select "Giving Season" as the category for all of your Thanksgiving and holiday offers.

Post your holiday catalog, shipping deal, holiday tasting flight, gift pack, limited release, charitable giving program, etc. This may include a discount of some kind, but it's not necessary. Every winery should have a special offer this time of year!

Submission Tip: Be sure to include a seasonal photo to highlight your offer.

  • Submit your events through the WV Member Portal.

Select Collateral > Calendar of Events, and select all applicable categories, including “Wine Country Thanksgiving.”

The WVWA no longer prints a Wine Country Thanksgiving guide, but consumers come to our website specifically looking for events during Thanksgiving weekend and the weekend prior. Be sure to tag your events and offers with “Wine Country Thanksgiving” to be included on our Thanksgiving landing page and digital event map. Applicable events are November 17 - November 26.

  • Submit your food bank donation offers through the WV Member Portal.

Select Collateral > Special Offers, and select all applicable categories, including “Willamette Cares Food Share.”

Many Willamette Valley businesses contribute to the local food bank network at this time of year. The WVWA will continue to promote the Willamette Cares Food Share as our region’s annual effort to combat hunger in our community. Participating members will be featured on a special page on the website. To participate, post a special offer on WV Portal that describes your food bank donation program. You may donate a portion of tasting fees, collect direct donations in the tasting room, donate a portion of sales for a particular bottle or holiday pack, etc. Any type of food bank contribution is considered a “special offer” for this program. Contact Julie if you need help crafting your offer.

PLEASE NOTE: The WVWA does not coordinate these efforts or collect the donations as in previous years. The food share will be promoted in Giving Season emails and marketing efforts.

  • Our audience can't get enough of your recipes. Submit your recipe using this google form, including a high-quality original photo. If you include a specific wine pairing, we'll link the recipe to the wine product page in your online store.

Tip: if you don't have a high quality pic, don't sweat it! We will access our stock image library and include a photo of one of the main ingredients.

GIVING SEASON EMAIL MARKETING CALENDAR

It's a good idea to anticipate the upcoming campaign and make sure your WVWA website profile is consistently up-to-date the week prior to the send date. Call-to-action links are included in each outgoing campaign and lead to curated listing pages that speak to specific email content. Updated profiles are statistically more likely to get "clicks" and "likes". Maintaining your business profile means increased traffic for your website and business.
