Long before the doors open and the first cork is pulled, Pinot in the City begins in the vineyard.

Pinot in the City Winery Group Seattle 2023

It begins in the cool mornings of the Willamette Valley — fog lifting off rows of Pinot noir, boots damp from dew, quiet conversations about harvest timing and soil health. It begins in cellars lined with aging barrels and in tasting rooms where guests linger, asking thoughtful questions about vintage, place and farming. Every bottle poured at Pinot in the City carries that origin story with it.

Pinot in the City was born from a simple idea: if not everyone can come to the Willamette Valley, we will bring the Willamette Valley to you.

Created by the Willamette Valley Wineries Association, the event was envisioned not as a formal seminar or trade show, but as a gathering — a welcoming room filled with the people who grow the grapes and craft the wines, standing side by side, ready to share their work directly with wine lovers. Over time, that gathering has traveled from city to city, but its spirit has remained rooted in authenticity and connection.

Through the years, Pinot in the City has made its way to vibrant wine-loving communities across the country — from Chicago to New York, from Austin to Miami, and beyond. In each city, the setting changes — a historic venue, a modern event space, a skyline glittering just outside the windows — but the feeling inside the room stays remarkably consistent. Guests arrive curious and leave inspired, carrying with them new discoveries and a deeper understanding of Oregon wine. Each city adds its own energy to the evening, shaping the conversations and connections that unfold.

In 2026, Pinot in the City returns to two dynamic destinations: Austin on March 25 and Charleston on April 15. Austin’s creative spirit and thriving food-and-wine culture provide a natural stage for an evening of discovery, while Charleston’s deep hospitality roots and culinary sophistication create an intimate, elegant backdrop for Oregon’s cool-climate wines. In both cities, guests can expect the same immersive walk-around tasting experience — dozens of wineries, personal conversations, and a vibrant room filled with people who simply love great wine.

When you walk into Pinot in the City, you feel it immediately. The hum of conversation. The glint of glasses catching the light. Friends greeting one another at the door. There is a sense of discovery in the air, an understanding that the evening will offer something new.

You might arrive knowing you love Willamette Valley Pinot noir. By the end of the night, you may have discovered a new favorite vineyard, tasted a vibrant Willamette Valley sparkling wine, or found a Chardonnay that completely reshapes your expectations. You can explore wines side by side, comparing expressions shaped by different soils, elevations and winemaking approaches. In a single evening, the diversity of the Valley unfolds in your glass.

What makes the experience linger, though, is not just the tasting — it’s the conversation. The person pouring your wine is often the one who made it. You hear about the challenges of a particular growing season, the excitement of a new vineyard planting, the intention behind a blending decision. You ask the questions you’ve always wondered about and receive answers straight from the source. A bottle becomes more than something to open at dinner; it becomes a story you now carry with you.

For many guests, Pinot in the City is their first meaningful encounter with the Willamette Valley. For others, it’s an annual ritual — a way to reconnect with favorite producers and watch the region evolve. Each event offers a living snapshot of a dynamic wine community committed to stewardship, collaboration and expressing place with clarity.

Not everyone can travel to the Willamette Valley every year. Pinot in the City shortens the distance. For one evening, surrounded by friends, new discoveries and the people behind the bottles, the Willamette Valley has come to you.
