Hillsboro / Forest Grove

Welcome to the newly minted Tualatin Hills AVA, the northernmost segment of the Willamette Valley. Gaston and Forest Grove lie within Washington County, southwest of the city of Portland. Dotted with railroads and farms, the little town of Gaston is home to several prominent wineries as well as the spectacular hidden gem of Henry Hagg Lake and its surrounding woods. Nearby Forest Grove lives up to its name, boasting the two largest Sequoia trees in Oregon as well as outstanding wineries and a pretty, tree-lined Main Street. Between the Coast Range mountains and the City of Portland, Hillsboro, the state’s fifth-largest city, offers professional baseball, TopGolf, a rock and mineral museum, and scenic farmland that draws cyclists as well as wine and beer lovers. Hillsboro is easily accessed via the MAX light rail from Portland, but with excellent lodging options and a great selection of nearby wineries, this historic town makes a fine base for wine country travel.
